Leaf Pick Up

Notice:  As of January 1, 2007, NO plastic bags will be permitted . . either picked up at the curb or brought to the Gerrish Township Compost/Recycling Site.  (If you bring plastic bags to the Site, you MUST empty the bags and take the plastic bags with you.)  Violations will result in Ordinance violations and subject the offender's) to tickets.

Leaf pick-up will be May through November on the first and third Friday of every month.  The first pick up for 2011 will be May 6th. 

It is preferred that leaves are in the brown recyclable Kraft bags or in sturdy open containers (boxes, trash bins, etc.) that are clearly marked “Yard Waste”. 

The Kraft bags are available at the local hardware store.

You could also contact Lyon Township for a pass to their compost site.  Cost is $5.00/visit or $25.00/season.

The Gerrish Township Board has developed a Recycling/Compost site behind the Police Station.  It is currently open all the time.
